Take this mirror for an exchange of a hundred bodies

Don’t worry, I need not boss it over them 

Take this staff as a symbol of my presence

You will serve as my mouthpiece to them

Eat of this tree but not of those trees

The one with the final say isn’t among them 

Alas! The ones with the final say are among them

Little did they know they were coming soon in

their battalions to oppose and depose their

direct and indirect government

Little did they know their kingdom

was about to abruptly come to an end

And today, just like some years ago

We raise our flag and song of freedom 

We celebrate our victory at last

We celebrate our triumph over master

We celebrate our independence
